In the morning I posted a quote from Helen Keller on my Facebook wall, it read “What would be worse than losing your sight? – Losing your vision.”
A few hours after I posted this, while reading a book, I got something in my eye which really hurt, and kept me from seeing out of that eye. I had to travel the following morning for ministry and I was concerned that I would not be able to travel if I could not see. I washed out my eye a number of times, but it still hurt a lot.
I ended up getting up about 3 am the following morning because of the pain and took a shower & washed it really good with baby shampoo. I felt like I had corrected the problem, but not wanting to take chances with something as important as my sight I got into the optometrist as early as possible to have it looked at. I was glad to know the damage was minimal and it seemed I had removed what ever irritant had lodged it’s self in my eye. While I was I recalled an event that had occured while I was there in the past, and I told the doctor the story. The last time I was in for a check-up, my eyes had been dilated and I was provided some sun glasses to put on to help when leaving the eye center. I did not put on the sunglasses as I left, thinking I will just put on my own when I get to my vehicle – however, as soon as I walked out of the door I was instantly blinded by the light and quickly put on the glasses I had been given. The instant this happened in my ear I heard the words from the song “blinded by the light”, and I started to laugh as I was reaching inot my shirt pocket for the sunglasses. As I got into my truck and started up the engine the radio came on and the exact line from that same song came across the airwaves “blinded by the light”. The doctor enjoyed hearing that testimony and I was encouraged to remember that often the Lord will use events to teach and confirm.
I asked Bobby Connor, the prophet, what he thought of my experience. He mentioned to me how in the presence of the Lord there is glory and light and getting close to Him requires an adjustment in our vision. He related that just like getting a photo taken with a bright flash which can blind us for a second, when the Lord flashes us it’s like He is taking our photo because He loves us.
I thought of Dan 2:22 “He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.”
As I traveled, I came through at town and noticed the largest billboard as I entered said “Blind Man”. It was an advertizement for window coverings, but was no coincidence for me. As I entered yet another town to pick up my travel companion I saw a blind man making his way down the sidewalk with his white cane. I can not recall the last time I saw a blind person making their way along. Of course, I was thanking the Lord all the way for both my sight and my more importantly, my vision. One word which was passed on to me that morning through the intercessors who were praying ro me was Hab 2:2-3 Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
It is so important to pay attention to the Spirit as well as the Word. The written Word will always be the foundation, but the word through the Spirit will tell us were we are on the map and how to get where we need to go. I am seeing clearly now and writing down the things the Lord has been showing me and teaching me. It’s fun to walk by the Spirit, and allow the Lord to take what the enemy may have meant to hinder us, and turn it into joy and strength. Mal 2:16 says “Therefore take heed to your spirit, and don’t break faith.” (CJV) Pay attention to the Spirit because the just will walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7 ).
I did not miss the symbolism either in washing my eyes out with baby shampoo, even as I did I thought of Luke 18:17 “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
