Four hundred years ago today the Pilgrims arrived in North America. They came together to form a new civil government under God with a document, known as the Mayflower Compact. This was the first civil governing document written in America and the New World. It placed the civil government on a firm Christian foundation with reliance upon almighty God and was the beginning of American constitutional government by written and mutual agreed upon consent of the governed. One of my ancestors sighed this document, and on this day joined with the others as they all came ashore and fell to their knees – thanking God and reaffirmed their continuing dependence upon Him.
Today there is a cabal of forces combining from at home and abroad to end our 400 year old tradition of self government and replacing it, as I write this, with a rule of elite “giants”. It is our duty to resist this and see that the will of the people, already addressed in the present election, is carried out – or we will see the end of the hopes of our forebearers and our children’s children.
In a speech before a special session of the Israeli Knesset January 22, 2018 Vice President Mike Pence said “My country’s very first settlers also saw themselves as pilgrims, sent by Providence, to build a new Promised Land. The songs and stories of the people of Israel were their anthems, and they faithfully taught them to their children, and do to this day. And our founders, as others have said, turned to the wisdom of the Hebrew Bible for direction, guidance, and inspiration.”
It falls to us to remind the God of Heaven of the prayers of our forefathers, and their everlasting covenant with Him. Our God is a just God and will not hold back His justice if we will petition Him in His courts, with our victorious Advocate, His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. This heavenly case is winnable, and we must prevail, for the sake of those who have gone before and those who will come after, and those whom we must protect.
