11-11-11

I t’s been a while since I have written on the numbers 11, 111 & 11 11 and I feel now – with the date 11-11-11 approaching – is a good time to revisit these.

God communicates in various ways and in diverse manners. One way that he catches the attention of some is through the repetition of numbers. Recently a young man who had just been saved came to me. Almost as soon as he was saved he started seeing a series of numbers over and over. He began to photograph these numbers when he saw them with his phone and showed me some of the photos. It was indeed remarkable to see some of the circumstances in which the series of numbers occurred. I was able to give him an interpretation which was a great encouragement to him and gave him some direction.

The numbers 111 and 11-11 have been occurring to a number of folks lately and I would like to look at the spiritual message behind these. The number 111 generally speaks to me of the word of the Lord coming – it usually is a substantiation that I have (1) heard something from the Lord and (2) He is now confirming that it indeed was Him that spoke. Jeremiah 1:11 says, “Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, …”. Jeremiah 11:1 says, “The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, …”

First a few things on the number 11 – there is a bit on the number 11 in my book also. To put this in context, the number 10 stands for ordinal perfection, and 12 stands for governmental perfection. 11 stands for transition and sometimes that can indicate disorder. It can also represent “approaching the end” or nearing completion – the “11th hour.” The prophetic voice crying in the wilderness was like this, “prepare the way of the Lord.” I’ll ask you to think “prophetically” for these next ones –

The first verse in the bible to use the word “prophet” is also the first verse in the bible to use the word “pray.” Gen 20:7, “Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live…” this shows us 1+1equals the prophetic. Genesis 41:32 says, “And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” The word for established should more properly be “confirmed.” It happened twice and was confirmed, this is a prophetic attribute. (Acts 15:32 (KJV), “And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them”). “It will shortly come to pass” is often an attribute of both the number 11, and the prophetic.

When most people see the two dreams they see them as 1+1=2, but prophetically we can see them as 1+1=11, events in transition. The prophetic is a bridge between events, between administrations, between changes in our lives, etc. It is like a bridge in that it helps us “crossover.” When I have gotten the numbers 11-11, I look to Deut 11:11, “but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven.” Sort of a prophetic confirmation (11 twice). Also the prophetic usually points a direction, which this verse certainly does. The prophetic is generally edification, exhortation, and comfort as it helps us get moving in the direction of our destiny and calling. What is the Lord pointing them toward in their own life, and which direction is He pointing them to – the “land which drinks water from the rain of heaven.”

The knowing of the prophetic word alone can bring disorder (11), but the acting upon the prophetic word can bring life (Gen. 20:7), and bring us into a place of blessing, or destiny (Deut 11:11). I think of the old Three Dog Night (111?) song “One is the loneliest number”, the prophetic all alone is like loneliness doubled (remember Elijah “I alone am left”) – but the Lord said that was not the case and sent him to raise up others. He made the cross-over.

The prophetic needs a great deal of mentoring because alone it can bring disorder – but with ordinal wisdom, and governmental wisdom (represented through study and mentoring, numbers 10 & 12), the prophetic brings life. I think we can all recall people new to, or young in, the prophetic who were not well grounded in the Word or put a prophetic interpretation above the Word of God, and also those who will not come into, or seek out, mentoring. These were in that category of “disorderly” – this is the number 11, it is also the prophetic.

Over the years I have noticed that these types of inspirations go in seasons or cycles. People may not realize they are in a season that others are also going through, but someone like myself who communicates with many folks from around the globe can see these waves come and go, and come again. It is not limited to 111 or 11-11 or 444, 222 or other numerical revelations that have been written about, but never the less it is the same Lord communicating in various, and sometimes odd, ways to get our attention. People are surprised – and relieved – when they search for meaning and find that someone has written an explanation to these things. I know this because I get letters and e-mails telling me so. Because of this I sometimes have a confirmation of a pulse I am sensing in the spirit. I believe these number revelations are part of His unveiling of secret things, bigger than any of us could quite comprehend individually, yet it is needful that the Lord act in order to bring His will to pass. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever…” The 11-11 has been showing up for a time, and more frequently with a number of people. The excitement that comes from an “unveiling” of communication from the Holy Spirit is a joy to behold. As the spirit unveils things often there are “layers” that are pulled back to reveal additional information.

As the number 11-11 is unveiled further there is an additional yet very important aspect as a part of the 11-11 occurrences, it is found in the first part of Isaiah 11:11 which says, “It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, …” What I believe the Lord is adding to the first portion of the message is that some people need to know that they have not been missed, and you have not missed out. No matter the circumstance, the Lord is encouraging you that He is offering another opportunity to cross over. A second chance to act upon the inspiration that He has given. The offer is still good, take hold of it and cross over into that new place and allow the blessings of God’s order to come into focus in your life. You will not be sorry you did. Transition is not always easy, but with the Lord, it will lead us into greater realms of glory, and He guides all the way. As I stated in the beginning, God communicates to us in various and sundry ways. He often will use the natural world around us, and the world that man has created, he communicates to us through the things we see and encounter in our daily lives and is able to edify, encourage and sustain us spiritually. Truly He never leaves us, but is always communicating his love towards us.
